Cultural Support for Dying & Bereavement in a Foreign Land

The project involves:

• Developing a resource to provide cultural support for dying & bereavement.
• Training for Bhutanese community leaders/elders.
• A launch event for the Bhutanese and wider community.

By building on a previous project, Mindful Transitions, our aim is to support development of self-sustaining capacity  to deal with death and bereavement, with a particular focus on in the local Bhutanese community in Hobart, Tasmania.

Mindful Transitions involved a training event, led by Khandro Thrinlay Chodon, during which elders in the local Bhutanese community made requests to her for continued support to assist their community deal with these issues.

We aim to build on previous work by providing resources, and subsequent training to support, to assist in dealing with issues associated with death and bereavement in, what is to them, a foreign land.
